Job Summary
Join Hitachi Rail as an Associate Signalling Functional Design Engineer and contribute to the design and delivery of innovative signalling projects within the Green Energy & Mobility segment. This role demands technical expertise backed by strong project lifecycle knowledge, working to produce high-quality functional design documents while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the functional design for assigned portions of signalling projects, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards such as CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, and IPC
- Produce detailed functional design documentation including system requirements, interface control specifications, scheme plans, control tables, and block designs
- Conduct comprehensive gap analysis between customer requirements and existing company products, identifying areas for adjustment or enhancement
- Manage requirements related to functional design and contribute actively to the detection and resolution of design errors
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of design work packages aligned with project schedules and budgets
- Support validation phases by addressing errors identified during site and system tests, aiming to minimize faults compared to peer projects
- Maintain detailed documentation and provide technical inputs to support project reviews and client engagements
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field
- 0-3 years of relevant experience in signalling design, functional delivery, or related engineering roles preferred
- Strong understanding of Indian Railways’ interlocking (IXL) functionalities and their applications under Indian environmental conditions
- Working knowledge of project life cycle management from design and development through to operation, support, and maintenance (OS&M)
- Ability to critically evaluate different IXL solutions, comparing merits and limitations within Indian rail contexts
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited for dynamic, multicultural project teams
- Strong problem-solving aptitude with a thorough attention to detail
