Job Summary
The Data Science Intern will join BNP Paribas India Solutions’ Global Markets Data & AI Lab to build and test machine learning models on large, diverse financial datasets. The role focuses on extracting insights to improve client service, trading risk management, and quantitative strategies across multiple asset classes. Interns work in a highly collaborative research environment, owning one or more topics over a six‑month internship in Mumbai.
Key Responsibilities
- Explore and analyse structured and unstructured data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Perform conceptual modelling, statistical analysis, predictive modelling, optimization, and rigorous hypothesis testing.
- Clean, normalize, and transform data; help design ETL workflows and ensure data integrity and security.
- Collaborate with quants, traders, and technologists, present findings, and iterate solutions based on user feedback.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (ongoing or recent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong foundation in probability, statistics, linear algebra, and core machine learning tasks such as classification, prediction, and clustering.
- Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (NumPy, pandas, scikit‑learn, TensorFlow/Keras, PyTorch, langchain) with ability to write clear, production‑style code.
- Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and good communication and teamwork skills; participation in platforms like Kaggle or similar is a plus.
