Job Summary

Calix is seeking a Graduate Trainee to join its security engineering and threat intelligence teams in Bangalore. The role involves analyzing network attacks, developing intrusion detection signatures, and supporting threat research initiatives. This position offers hands-on experience in cybersecurity with opportunities to work with advanced tools, automate workflows using Python, and contribute to enhancing threat detection capabilities. This role supports Calix’s mission to provide secure software and cloud platforms to communications service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with threat researchers and security engineers to analyze network-based attacks and create detection logic.
• Perform packet-level analysis with PCAP files using Wireshark, Zeek, and similar tools.
• Assist in developing, testing, and validating detection signatures for IPS/NIDS systems.
• Support the development and automation of internal research tools using Python.
• Conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) research for emerging threats, IoCs, and TTPs.
• Create technical documentation, threat reports, and playbooks for internal and external use.
• Engage in technical discussions throughout the threat research and signature development lifecycle.
• Help simulate attack scenarios to validate detection capabilities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking, or Cybersecurity (graduated or final year 2024/2025).
• Strong understanding of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP, OSI Model, and IDS/IPS technologies.
• Familiarity with Cyber Threat Intelligence frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
• Proficiency in Python programming for automation and tool development is preferred.
• Comfortable working with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience or familiarity with network analysis tools such as Wireshark, Suricata, Snort, tcpdump is a plus.
• Coursework or experience in network security, packet analysis, or cybersecurity is desirable.
• Strong communication skills, detail-oriented approach, and research aptitude.
