Job Summary
Larsen & Toubro is hiring a Software Engineer for its D&DC Land Systems team in Talegaon to work on large, complex, distributed software systems for defence and precision engineering applications. The role focuses on embedded and systems-level software development using C/C++ on Linux and real-time operating systems such as VxWorks and QNX. Candidates will contribute to design, implementation, debugging, and performance analysis of multi-threaded and multi-process systems that interface with a variety of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software modules in C and C++ for multi-threaded, multi-process environments on Linux and real-time operating systems.
- Design and implement tools to accelerate software development, testing, and debugging workflows.
- Analyze system scalability and interworking issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement robust fixes.
- Develop built-in diagnostics and test code to improve system reliability, monitoring, and supportability.
- Work on distributed architecture systems with inter-process and inter-system communication across Serial, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, NMEA, Modbus, and similar interfaces.
- Configure and troubleshoot IP-based communication including Ethernet switching and VLANs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support resolution of issues reported from customer sites.
Qualifications & Skills
- B.Tech/B.E in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics, or related).
- Strong knowledge of C and C++ programming.
- Understanding of operating system concepts and hands-on exposure to Linux, VxWorks, or QNX.
- Experience working in multi-threaded and multi-process software environments.
- Familiarity with Linux tools, Jira, and inter-process communication mechanisms.
- Knowledge of IP networking concepts, VLANs, and Ethernet switching.
- Prior work on large, complex, distributed or embedded systems is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, integration, debugging, communication, and multitasking skills.
