Job Summary
This Software Engineer Internship at Stripe gives students the chance to work on real projects that directly impact internet-scale financial infrastructure. Interns contribute to production systems, using modern technologies while strengthening their skills in systems design, testing, and collaborative development. Each intern is paired with a dedicated manager and works on a project that is part of the team’s roadmap, with opportunities to present outcomes to the team and broader organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship production-quality software that has measurable impact on Stripe’s products and customers.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions to give and receive technical feedback.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and cross‑functional partners to incorporate feedback and iterate on solutions.
- Rapidly learn unfamiliar systems and technologies, asking thoughtful questions and clearly communicating project status.
Qualifications & Skills
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field with strong CS fundamentals.
- Programming experience through coursework or projects; familiarity with at least one of Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, or Go.
- Prior exposure to multi-person projects (internships, open source, or team coursework) and comfort receiving and acting on feedback.
- Ability to understand new codebases, write clear technical documentation, and produce well-tested pull requests.
