Job Summary
The Apprentice – Firmware Testing role at Itron focuses on validating embedded firmware for energy and water management devices. As a fresher apprentice, you will work with global teams to test ARM-based microcontroller firmware, communication protocols, and RF/battery-operated devices. The position offers structured, on-the-job learning in automation, scripting, and test frameworks while supporting real-world utility and smart city solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute firmware validation and protocol testing for embedded systems in C/Assembly.
- Test ARM-based microcontroller features, RF modules, and battery-operated devices.
- Develop and run automation scripts (Python/C#) and contribute to test frameworks.
- Log defects, document test results, and collaborate with global engineering teams.
- Follow test plans, maintain high attention to detail, and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
- B.E/B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Computer Science (2024/2025 pass-outs).
- No prior full-time job or apprenticeship experience.
- Good understanding of embedded systems, firmware, and hardware/firmware testing.
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows environments; strong Python programming skills.
- Good to have: shell scripting and Robot Framework keyword development.
- Strong communication, teamwork, can‑do attitude, and patience during detailed testing.
