Job Summary

Cisco is seeking passionate Software Engineer Interns for its India Engineering division. This internship offers the opportunity to work on next-generation software innovations spanning cloud, mobile, desktop, and security platforms. Interns will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software components and tools that empower enterprise growth and transform customer experiences with cutting-edge technology. The role includes specialized tracks such as Networking Protocols, Application Software, and Embedded & Systems Development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs and enhancements across various platforms.
• Develop software tools supporting design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, and networks.
• Apply solid fundamentals of computer science with a focus on TCP/IP networking, security technologies, programming, and scripting languages like Python.
• Work on network routing, switching, debugging, and security protocols as relevant to assigned tracks.
• Engage in creative problem-solving, thorough testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering.
• Solid knowledge of programming/scripting languages, especially Python.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking fundamentals and basic concepts of routing and switching.
• Conceptual understanding of security technologies such as Firewall, IPS/IDS, VPN, IPsec, TLS is a plus.
• Good problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and maintain excellent communication skills.
• Interest in scaling applications to the cloud and exposure to mobile or system-level programming are advantageous.
