Job Summary

As an Associate Design Engineer at Caterpillar, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing new engineering components, products, or technologies. Your daily work involves researching new materials, organizing prototype creation and testing, coordinating with suppliers, and documenting functional requirements. You will support the product development process, and work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions and participate in technical reports and proposal preparation.​

Key Responsibilities

• Research new materials and competitive products
• Organize, coordinate, and execute building, testing, and analysis of prototypes
• Assist supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and performance
• Document functional requirements and translate them into detailed design documents
• Support proposal preparation and technical reporting
• Oversee drafting and testing specialists
• Participate in product testing and troubleshooting technical problems

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science (accredited curriculum)
• Data gathering & analysis, analytical thinking, and decision making skills
• Effective communication and technical writing ability
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software and product testing approaches
• Basic proficiency in troubleshooting technical problems​
