Job Summary
This role sits in Shell’s Commercial Data Science (CDS) team within the Digital Process Twin portfolio, focusing on data-driven process transformation. The Data Science Analyst supports analysis of process event data to generate insights, analytical models, and visualizations that improve business process efficiency and decision-making. The position is based in Chennai and Bangalore, offering early-career professionals a chance to work at the intersection of data science, process mining, and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cleanse, and transform process event data for exploratory analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to detect trends, patterns, and anomalies in structured and event-based datasets.
- Build visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Plotly Dash to communicate process insights.
- Collaborate with data scientists on feature design, metrics, and predictive models related to process performance.
- Help create and maintain data models and pipelines, ensuring data quality and consistency across multiple enterprise systems like SAP, Salesforce, and ServiceNow.
- Support process-mining initiatives on platforms such as Celonis EMS and SAP Signavio, including event-log preparation and analysis.
- Contribute to documentation, testing, and quality assurance of analytical deliverables while developing a grounding in Responsible AI and Explainable AI.
Qualifications & Skills
- 0–2 years of experience in data analytics or data science with exposure to data preparation, analysis, or visualization.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL along with familiarity with libraries such as pandas and NumPy.
- Basic understanding of machine learning or statistical methods applied to structured or event data.
- Experience with visualization tools and frameworks such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly Dash, or Matplotlib/Seaborn.
- Desirable exposure to process event data, event logs, and process-mining tools like Celonis EMS, SAP Signavio, PM4Py, or ProM.
- Knowledge of data quality concepts, ETL or pipeline design, data wrangling, and feature engineering.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative fields, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and willingness to learn process-oriented data science methods and MLOps practices.
