Job Summary
This Software Engineer role within Cisco’s Enterprise DevOps as a Service (EDaaS) team focuses on building full stack platforms that enhance Developer Experience across the organization. You will design intuitive UIs, scalable backends, and integrated toolchains that streamline onboarding, CI/CD, and day‑to‑day developer workflows. The position suits engineers with 1–3 years of experience who enjoy working across frontend, backend, and cloud-native environments to create secure, reliable, and developer-centric platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Build responsive frontend interfaces using React or Angular to simplify developer workflows and dashboards.
- Develop backend services and RESTful APIs using Java, Go, or Node.js, ensuring scalability, reliability, and secure integrations.
- Design and implement platforms that unify access to tools, services, and environments for developers.
- Integrate DevEx platforms with DevOps tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Artifactory, and ArgoCD.
- Contribute to internal developer portals that centralize documentation, pipelines, observability, and self-service capabilities.
- Implement secure authentication, role-based access control, and compliance guardrails for developer-facing services.
- Build observability dashboards and metrics to track platform usage, performance, and adoption.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, platform engineers, and end-users to iterate quickly on features.
- Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation and self-service guides for developers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
- Proficiency in frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Strong backend development skills in Java or Go, plus experience designing RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of database technologies like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps toolchains.
- Good understanding of web security, authentication, and access control principles.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort working in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
Desired Skills
- Experience building or contributing to developer portals (e.g., Backstage or custom platforms).
- Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Knowledge of API gateways, service meshes, and distributed architectures.
- Experience with data visualization libraries and dashboarding.
- Contributions to open-source projects or internal developer tooling.
